1PostSubject: Hijacking the plane of progress   Tue Mar 28, 2017 11:23 am

Dear friends,

I have been watching some of the news with alarm though no doubt I am developing some sort of spiritual antidote as times go on.
Two issues worry me more about this Trumpian scare more than anything else - because I think they are not merely issues of political divisions, styles and economic progress for a while versus downfall for a while. One continent over another.

Scroll down and see what happens with the Arctic ice melt...
Guardian article w illustrations
Guys, I have never EVER seen such extreme weather in my native Hungary as this past year. While the summer saw weeks and weeks of subtropical heat normally typical in Southern Italy, here in the Carpathian basin, we have had the single most extreme winter of 30 years in 2016-17 (and it is still not over at the end of March). Normally you would go outside in a T-shirt by now, and now you still need a sizeable jacket and a shawl in the evening.

For months on end, being sick with the longest bout of cold and flu in my life in this Russian-style weather I wondered if I ever learn the truth behind this unexplained weirdness. It turned out in March that the stats for our small country (for a population below ten million) reported thousands of more deaths this winter - an increase of 20% of winter deaths compared to previous years. Lack of heating materials, an extreme flu epidemic and a much higher incidence of pulmonary causes as well as slightly increased numbers for cardiovascuklar.

An active dangerous smog alert was on in Budapest for weeks on end - you could only air your room late at night if you did not want to smell diesel. And I was looking for explanations - or any sign of people being alarmed but neither came up even in the most liberal and experimental channels.

A few days ago I read a science article by a Chinese-American researcher which said the increased smog in Northeast China - the so-called aircalypse - had probably been due to the Arctic ice melt. A few articles reported that it is way faster than anyone expected this year and that the new American administration is taking the side of climate deniers. (Sure, God created the world 6,000 years ago.)

Then yesterday I saw the above article.
To repeat: the toughest winter of 30 years here, after decades of warming weather, with unbelievable smog (at the edge of the city in a relatively green area). 20% more died than during the winters of the past few years...

I feel that we are already at the point where few will survive the coming decades. Much of the migration and the concomitant wars, it turns out, as I had suspected, is related to climate change according to researchers and journalists.
If we stopped using fossil fuels now within a few years, we would have a chance for some of the planet.
Then look who Trump appoints for the head of the EPA.

From this perspective, I don't care is he is beating the Bible or the Koran, or even if half of America becomes poor or rich or wages two more wars in a few years. Yes, that is also terrible, but I feel we are all at a crossroads as a planet now.

It's simply whether we some of us will survive at all or if the human experiment on Planet Earth failed due to hysterical welfare chauvinism and people hiding their heads in the sand like ostriches.

This is no longer an issue of philosophy because we will not live to see the results. Arctic ice melt is way faster than anyone imagined because it is a self-perpetuating cycle to last quite a while ALREADY.

So how do we share and learn about this information and similar issues?
Corporations controlling much of the government will control the Internet as of today?

IMO, there's no doubt that "the plane of progress has been hijacked", but not by the people now getting the blame in the media: meaning political, religious, and economic leaders. It looks to me like ever-increasing reliance on cyber technology has turned the world-wide industrial machine into a sort of run-away train that's rapidly carrying the Earth's entire population towards ecological disaster. Climate change is the most conspicuous symptom of this problem, but the underlying cause is over-population combined with grossly unfair distribution of the world's wealth. And the reason we haven't even begun to start working towards solutions is simply because nobody has yet realized that cyber technology itself can turn things around if we start using it correctly.

The best starting point is realizing that the production and consumption of physical goods and services is the main cause of the problem and the solution is to "consume less and make maximum use of what we have rather than demanding more." Rather than traveling, we need to stay home and interact with the world through our computers. This automatically reduces the amount of energy we consume, and also the waste that makes all of us poorer than we deserve to be. However, there's no sign that we're going to realize this in time to turn things around, and we're rapidly running out of time.

Does this now appear as obvious to you as it does to me?

Yes! It does. I am already working with this philosophy - use less, especially disposable items. I am surrounded with family and job questions although the second one is possibly getting worked out. MY daughter in the US the younger one wants to move back because the pressure of hardline Conservativism is too provoking, and she has plans to go to London for a performing arts school. Which is good, but now we don't know if it is going to be more difficult in Hungary, the US or in the UK after Brexit is implemented... I still have high hopes for Europe and it would be easier to have my kid in London than so far away, but as part of the family lives in Hawaii, that's in the cards too...

I just posted in a thread on my RS Yuku Community that I expect both the UK and the EU to be well on the way to dissolution before Brexet is fully implemented two years from now. I also have high hopes for Europe, just as you do, but I see a return to independent nations sharing a common economic base, as has been the case throughout most of the modern era. And I'm sure that the USA will still be closely involved with all of them, especially economically, but I suspect that non-citizens working or going to school here will become a lot more complicated than it's traditionally been. I see no way to get Trump out of power before 2020, and I still believe the chances of serious politic-economic melt-down before then are quite high, as I've been predicting for some time now. So I recommend that you persuade your daughter to return to Europe immediately if you possibly can.

Question and a note...

I have not checked into RS for a few months and it is a pleasant surprise that there are many lively discussions. However, I failed to find a specific recent thread dedicated to this important subject. Can you supply the exact link or the thread title? I will review most of the discussions on RS but that will take a few days.

Note: my daughter is a US citizen, legally she was supposed to be born as one because I had been one when she was born, though she did not claim this right until 2014 with the help of the local embassy. However, as much as this conservative environment helped her put her life in order, she has begun to complain that the atmosphere is bad and restrictive at home - there is way too much shouting and animosity for a normal teenager, and apart from a normal homesickness for the land of her childhood, she is simply too isolated in this (outside of even a) suburban place. There are unreasonable bans, like she is not allowed to send or receive SMS-es - I could never find out why except for a mere control trip.

My mother-in-law's point of view is that since life is expensive there, we should simply shut up and accept whatever the Emperor says.
My wife has just spent a few months there but she was not sure if my daughter would want to stay on... She is good with softening these adversities but I have a hard time with anyone limiting my freedom at the age of 56...

Lili has stated last year that it was difficult to put up with the family though she liked the school and the people there. No doubt being white and having mastered almost a perfect level of English helps her a lot, but the anti-immigrant hysteria will perhaps not differentiate...

I thought she would be more at home in Boston, but in fact they are worlds apart - what you wrote about the Red and Blue division applies to this part of the family completely. They had moved far out into the woods near some small towns, they use cars everywhere and TV is always on (Fox News of all). In other words, what attracts her - an urban, international environment - is precisely what my relatives did everything to get away from - in true Red fashion. I am still grateful for their reliable help, and I could not have financed all this on my own, but the situation is becoming rather provocative on a daily basis. Basically, I will have only a few weeks to decide. Lili is slated to visit home in the summer but it will be too late to decide on this...

There are good schools in Budapest but it is not easy to get in as times go on ... most people sign up in January for the next year.

From news reports, prejudice against people speaking an Eastern European language is difficult these days in the UK, people have been beaten up by nationalist gangs merely for speaking Polish in the street, while it seems people of color and/or Muslim background cultures have it rougher in the US, including citizens...

But I guess it is not by chance that your advice has been written now as it was. These are decisive times anyway.

The question is simple but not easy to decide: where would she experience less tyranny? Or, would we experience more or less tyranny if she returns here or if she stays on? Will it be too late next year? My instincts say that it is not going to be easy in 2018.

Provided that we can find a tolerable school at all... Since she has been studying in the US for 3 years now, I imagine she would have to start high school again (she is a freshman now) because, for starters, she has not studied any Hungarian history which is required here.

If the EU breaks up, Orban - the worst ruler we had since 500 years - will want out since they spent all the EU money on their friends and will receive no more from 2022. There are signs already that they are ready to install a total dictatorship a la Erdogan, since the EU is a lame duck, and Trump has no problem with nationalist dictators instituting open slavery, segregation and racism.

The latest scandal is that the government wants to forbid CEU - Central European University founded by Mr. George Soros - from issuing degrees which are valid both here and in the US, unless they suddenly establish a campus in the US. The law is to be voted in, nominally for screening out fake degrees people get online, it is not yet accepted by Parliament, but the PM has been openly accusing CEU hysterically as "cheaters" though they are not violating any legal rule as of now. CEU has very good recognition in academia, internationally it is within the first 100 of the world. Ignatieff, the rector is determined to stay - but if Orban does not relent, the whole campus may relocate to Latvia or Lithuania. True, formally they can go on teaching and issue degrees locally, but this whole thing smacks of the paranoid scapegoating of Gülen by Erdogan. And while Gülen may have been organizing Turks at home and abroad with a goal of a real turnover, based on a popular (peaceful) Muslim movement, there is simply no reality of these accusations and there is no secret organization behind Mr. Soros, and his stance has always been the exact opposite of religious fanaticism. While CEU has been founded by Mr. Soros about 25 years ago, he or his foundation have not ever intervened in the curriculum, selection of teachers or president etc. The irony is that the Soros Open Society Foundation had paid for part of the education of Mr. Orban in England as well as many other present government members and party leaders...

I hear a daily dose of how good Putin is and how we should model the Azeris and Russia and how Soros is the liberal devil incarnate, and that civil organizations having any foreign ties or money - be it Norwegian or whatever - should be "swept off the table" (in the words of the vice president of the ruling one-party, a bald muscleman).

I wasn't able to find the messages I was referring to on either this group or on RS, so I'll repost the same information and opinions in future messages here when the context of a discussion makes it appropriate.

reg: "Note: my daughter is a US citizen, etc..."

Thanks for the information about your family. I'm actually surprised that the relatives your daughter has been staying with in Boston have aligned themselves with US political right wing. I literally have never met a recent european immigrant to the USA who's anything but a liberal...

reg: "From news reports, prejudice against people speaking an Eastern European language is difficult these days in the UK, people have been beaten up by nationalist gangs merely for speaking Polish in the street, while it seems people of color and/or Muslim background cultures have it rougher in the US, including citizens... I live in a very liberal part of the USA, where there doesn't seem to be any significant preudice by either the authorities or the citizenry against foreigners of any kind. And from what learn from the national news, there's actually little prejudice anywhere, mostly because foreigners tend to settle only in the more liberal areas. President Trump's executive orders banning Muslims from entering the USA aren't based on either popular objections to them or on state/local laws oposing them: they're pretty much made up out of whole cloth, representing his own opinions and those of his immediate circle.

reg: "If the EU breaks up, Orban - the worst ruler we had since 500 years - will want out since they spent all the EU money on their friends and will receive no more from 2022. I assume that if the EU breaks up, you will end up moving from Hungary to Germany or one of the other nations in Western Europe that's still fully functional. And I'm still very pessimistic about the immediate politico-economic future here in the USA. Trump keeps bragging about how much he's doing to "make America great again", but he's actually in the process of doing major sabotage to the US economy. Today's news is reporting that he intends to start slapping tariffs of various kinds on imports very soon, with the intention of encouraging more industrial production here in the USA. However, all the economic experts I've read are predicting that this will simply increase the prices of all imported goods, completely overwhelming any gains...

Yes, this is a sane advice. If either of my parents happen to die, I could start a new life and things will be in a turmoil here. For years I imagined I am a bridgehead to the Invisible College here, because all through NLP therapy and astrology I can simply disseminate messages from deeper sources and encourage people to get in touch with their pure guardian spirits... now I'm looking at some intermediate solution. I got a translating contract with a medical company in the US which would be good though it requires a lot of effort but then it does not matter where I am. And I am good at German, though I need some live practice... I like the language a lot from an instinctive level. Perhaps this is partly because I had German speaking ancestors. But thi will be accomplished in a year about. Provided I am making more money or one of my parents leaves me an inheritance... which can happen any day now. So I am inclined not to seek out a school for this very fall, but maybe next year. But next year might have a war, economic uncertainty, and a large epidemic is in the cards. And I nearly died this winter - I aged ten years in 4 months.

IMO, it's always important to realize that "the Astral Plane is a condition, not a place" and you can function as "a bridgehead to the IC" for lots off different individuals and groups in Hungary and the rest of Eastern Europe no matter where you reside physically as long as you maintain solid telepathic contact with your Guides and virtual contact with the people involved.

From this, it looks to me like you have a near-perfect understanding of "what is really going on here" that's as sufficient to carry you through the coming upheavals in Europe as anyone's is. And my best guess at this point is that like in Europe during the upheavals is going to be easier for the majority of the inhabitants than life in the USA, simply because the EU is more "user friendly" on the average than the USA.
