Doubt is a pain too lonely to know that faith is his twin brother.

Wow, it's nearly 2017!
A 1 year. Like starting all over again.
May Peace overpower hatred, bringing the human race back together with love and understanding.

I sometimes suspect that half our difficulties are imaginary and if we kept quite about them they would disappear.

I agree, and also suspect that half or more of our real difficulties will become less serious if we negotiate and try to reach an acceptable compromise.

Negativity just is not worth worrying about. Positive thoughts are much better.

Another way of putting this:
Negative thoughts tend to generate negative words and deeds
Positive thoughts tend to generate positive words and deeds.

Many passages in the Hindu scriptures describe life as a "pastime" for both mortals and immortals. This is a major theme in the Bhagavad Gita and the answer to the Yogi's question is: “It's not whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game.”

Or as Shirley Muldon of the Gitsxan Tribe put it: “We believe in reincarnation of people and animals. We believe that the dead can visit this world and that the living can enter the past. We believe that memory survives from generation to generation. Our elders remember the past because they have lived it.”

Similar descriptions of the afterlife appear in the mythologies and/or folklore of just about every human culture throughout history. And the reason is right in the quotation itself: some people have memories of past lives and/or the disembodied state between incarnations.

And it's also important to realize that the vast majority of past-life and pre-life memories remain in the subconscious, but still shape our character in the form of interests, talents, etc.

I believe that "our real home" like the "spirit world" or "astral plane" is a condition, not a place. It is the realization that we are all immortal souls and any particular incarnation is just enrolling in a school for a course of instruction.

Those who are animated by hope can perform what would seem impossibilities to those who are under the depressing influence of fear.

But those driven by fear can perform what would seem impossibilities to those who are under the compromising influence of hope. ("Do or die" versus "I can always try something else".

My cat, Miss BB, loves to sleep 3/4's of the day.
Makes me want to be a cat next time.
Plus she has me trained to follow her instructions.
Actually I may be the pet and she the master.
Cats, you gotta love them.

IMO, dogs are even better than cats are at training their (alleged) owners to follow their instructions. When I had packs of dogs for herding cattle and protecting the farm, the alpha bitch was always my personal pet and slept at the foot of my bed, and I'm absolutely certain these dogs felt they were in charge and I was their subordinate.

Life is like a wild tiger.

You can either lie down and let it

Lay its paw on your head--

Or sit on its back and ride it.
